The Role
As Site Manager, you will be accountable for:
1. Safe, compliant, and fully operational site infrastructure
2. Facilities, utilities, and statutory compliance
3. Asset lifecycle planning and capital projects
4. Contractor governance and performance
5. Health & Safety compliance within facilities
You will empower teams by creating high-performing environments that enable operational excellence, while leading major projects and acting as HSE Co-ordinator when required.
Key Responsibilities
Site & Asset Leadership
6. Manage buildings, infrastructure, and ancillaries
7. Maintain asset registers and lifecycle plans
8. Drive preventative maintenance and continuous improvement
Capital Projects & Contractor Management
9. Deliver major projects on time and budget
10. Manage contractors and consultants to compliance standards
11. Act as HSE Co-ordinator on large-scale works
Commercial & Compliance Oversight
12. Budget ownership and financial reporting
13. Identify efficiencies and cost improvements
14. Ensure statutory compliance and audit readiness
People & Culture
15. Lead and develop a small site team
16. Maintain safe, compliant, and empowering environments
17. Embed Smithers’ culture through ownership and standards
Candidate Profile
You will bring:
18. Experience managing facilities or technical sites
19. Oversight of contractor-led capital projects
20. Knowledge of UK HSE, statutory, and fire safety regulations
21. Strong stakeholder and contractor management skills
22. Leadership, accountability, and problem-solving under pressure
Desirable: Facilities, Engineering, or Construction qualification; IOSH/NEBOSH; PRINCE2/PMP.
