About the Role
We're looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support our Finance Director and Financial Controller. You'll play a key role in keeping our accounting systems accurate, up to date, and compliant, while gaining valuable exposure to month-end and year-end processes. This is a hybrid role based in our Canterbury office, with 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home, offering flexibility while remaining closely connected to the finance team.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Process invoices, payments, receipts, and journal entries accurately and on time.
* Reconcile bank accounts, supplier statements, and company credit cards.
* Maintain the general ledger and support month-end and year-end closing processes.
* Assist with preparation of management accounts and financial reporting.
* Monitor overdue accounts and support credit control processes.
* Liaise with suppliers and customers to resolve queries regarding invoices and payments.
* Provide administrative support to the finance team and assist with ad hoc projects.
* Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
* Ensure timely data entry to keep accounting systems up to date.
What We're Looking For
* Previous experience in an accounts role.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Proficiency in Excel; experience with Xero or Sage desirable.
* AAT qualification (or studying) is an advantage.
