Job description
Our client, a leading firm in the energy sector with a focus on nuclear, oil & gas, is currently seeking a Welding Chargehand for a fixed-term position. This role will involve supporting the installation of secondary steel structures on the HPC site, ensuring all Health & Safety protocols and company policies are meticulously followed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leading a team of operatives and supporting management
2. Providing technical advice and proposing technical solutions as required
3. Reviewing and approving technical & safety documentation
4. Ensuring installation of works is as per design and process
5. Delivering works on time and within budget
6. Supervising contracted staff
7. Managing and ensuring compliance with the NNB permit to work processes
8. Attending coordination meetings
9. Acting as Incident Controller (IC) and Trauma and Medical Immediate Care (TMIC)
Job Requirements:
10. Strong team leader with attention to safety and quality
11. Experience in data input and familiarity with HPC (desirable)
12. Ability to set people to work and ensure works are delivered as per design, on time and on budget
13. Excellent team working and relationship-building skills
14. Strong communication and technical skills
15. An eye for detail and problem-solving abilities
Qualifications - Essential:
16. Level 3 Pipe Welder Apprenticeship Standard (ST0851) or equivalent
17. Diploma in Welding Engineering Construction (Pipework or Plate)
18. A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Welder in a relevant industry
19. CSWIP certificate or L2 PCN Certificate
20. BS EN ISO 9606 Coded Welding Qualification
21. One of the following: LATS, SSSTS, IOSH Managing Safely
Qualifications - Desirable:
22. VT - CSWIP certificate
23. TMIC trained (First Aid at Work trained)
24. IC trained
25. Permit Acceptor
