Job Description: Job overview To provide a specialist clinical psychology service to clients served by the North Central London Home Treatment Team, and Beacon Day Service. This includes psychological assessment, short-term individual and group therapy, risk assessment and management, and offering advice, consultation, and supervision to colleagues and carers. The post involves working autonomously within professional guidelines, utilizing research skills for audit, policy, and service development. Clinical supervision may be provided to assistant psychologists and non-psychologists.
The post holder will contribute to service development and high-quality, evidence-based care pathways, including training or teaching staff.
Main duties of the job The post is based between St Ann's and Edgware Community Hospital, covering children, young people, and families presenting with high risk and engagement challenges. The role involves therapeutic work with young people and parents/carers, supporting psychological thinking within multidisciplinary teams, and working in emotionally demanding situations. Home or hospital visits are part of the role, and the use of personal vehicle may be required.
Effective keyboard skills are necessary for clinical documentation and communication.
Working for our organisation The partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) is strengthening since 2021, forming the North London Mental Health Partnership. BEH manages North London Forensic Services, delivering mental health care across prisons and HM Young Offenders Institutions.

Person specification Qualifications/Registrations Doctoral level training in clinical or counselling psychology, including models of psychopathology, psychometrics, neuropsychology, multiple psychological therapies, and lifespan development psychology, accredited by the BPS.
Registration with HCPC as a clinical or counselling psychologist.
Additional post-doctoral training in evidence-based therapies such as CBT, systemic therapy, and EMDR.
Experience Experience in psychological assessment and treatment of young people with mental health and learning difficulties across various care settings.
Experience working with diverse client groups, handling highly emotive and distressing situations professionally.
Experience collaborating with Social Care Teams and working in crisis services.
Experience in teaching, training, and supervision.
Experience applying psychology in different cultural contexts and within the NHS.
Skills/Abilities Skills in complex psychological assessment, intervention, and management requiring sustained concentration. Knowledge of research methodology and data analysis. Good organizational and communication skills, including effective written and oral communication of complex information. Ability to provide consultation and training. Knowledge of specialised psychological therapies and relevant legislation.
Personal Qualities Experience working in multicultural settings, group work, flexibility, and teaching/training abilities. Car driver desirable.
