There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our East Midlands Division located in Leicester is looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join the Division’s Finance team.
The Role
The role of Finance Assistant involves assisting in the production of accurate and timely financial transactions and reports in addition to maintaining the business’s accounting records. This will include, purchase ledger duties, and ad hoc tasks within the finance department.
Principal accountabilities of the Finance Assistant role include:
1. Assist with other purchase ledger duties, including;Processing invoices against ordersProcessing divisional expensesManaging delivery notes from siteManaging invoices for approvalCarry out monthly statement reconciliationsCarry out mid-month and month end payment runs, ensuring compliance with the Prompt Payment Code
2. Process sub-contractor invoices and certifications (self-billing) and set up and verify new sub-contractors with HMRC
3. Processing House sales journals and cancellations,
4. Collating data for lunar payroll (if applicable)
5. Set up and process payments, post nominal ledger journals as necessary, cashbook entries, sales invoices, manage the sales ledger, reconcile sales receipts and conduct bank reconciliations
6. Weekly cash forecast and movement reports
7. Provide cover for critical tasks during leave periods and other ad hoc tasks within the finance department
8. Carry out any other reasonable tasks as directed by the Divisional and Group Finance Management Teams.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Experience
9. Experience of working within a similar role will be preferred
10. Experience of working with accountancy software.
11. Working knowledge of COINS would be desirable
Qualifications and Training
12. GCSE Maths and English – Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
13. AAT qualification is desirable
Skills and Aptitude
14. Good interpersonal skills.
15. Excellent organisation and administration skills, including good attention to detail
16. Ability to work on own as well as part of a team
17. Works effectively to deadlines and competently works on multiple tasks simultaneously
18. Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and the ability to adapt to new systems
