Overview
Trust Grade Lead Registrar in Emergency Medicine. This position is designed for doctors with at least 2 years of experience leading an Emergency Department and who are seeking to further develop autonomy in a District General Hospital setting. The post holder should be fully capable of leading the Emergency Department and provide proof of valid life support certificates before the start of the post.
Responsibilities
* Work as a senior ED decision maker for 12 months, including night shifts.
* Primary work location at Ealing Hospital with occasional shifts at Northwick Park Hospital based on clinical staffing needs.
* Provide direct management of patients in the Emergency Department and participate in all aspects of ED care.
* Support an 08:00 to 00:00 Emergency Medicine Consultant presence at both departments, with additional night cover from Friday to Monday at Northwick Park Hospital.
* Outside of these hours, one of the middle grade doctors is designated to undertake the lead role and liaises with the nurse co-ordinator to ensure efficient department operation.
* Contribute to rapid assessment triage to facilitate efficient processing of patients who are unlikely to require admission.
* Participate in care of patients in the Clinical Decision Unit, including Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC).
* Engage in training opportunities within the wide range of clinical interfaces available in the department.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Minimum of 2 years’ experience leading an Emergency Department.
* Proof of valid life support courses prior to the start of the post.
