The Role
As an EMC Test Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe and effective test and evaluation of aircraft, land platforms and associated electronic and armament systems operating in complex electromagnetic environments.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide subject matter expertise within multidisciplinary project teams, supporting the planning, execution and assurance of electromagnetic trials across civil and military programmes.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. Providing E3 technical expertise in a customer facing and delivery focused environment
2. Understanding customer problems and contributing to innovative engineering solutions
3. Producing test plans, technical reports and presentation material in line with project requirements
4. Identifying E3 technical risks and supporting Project Managers with mitigation
5. Supporting the planning and delivery of electromagnetic trials programmes
6. Maintaining continued technical engagement with key internal and external stakeholders
Essential experience of the EMC Test Engineer:
7. Proven understanding of fundamental electromagnetic theory
8. Have a strong interest and/or experience of Radio Frequency (RF) design and testing
9. Experience across E3 technical areas such as Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) or High‑Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF)
10. Ability to author technical documentation including test plans and reports
11. Experience working within technical governance frameworks
12. Strong written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders
13. Confidence to stand behind engineering judgement and challenge constructively
Essential qualifications for the EMC Test Engineer:
14. Degree or equivalent experience in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or Physics
15. Evidence of continued professional learning and development

This role is full time and based at Farnborough. Adaptive working is available, with at least 3 days per week expected on site. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites will be expected.
