Job Description
Core Purpose
To lead the technical design, development, and delivery of the Originate SaaS suite of products while aligning engineering execution with business goals, ensuring scalability, security, reliability, and maintainability.
Your contribution
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership
• Architect secure, high-availability systems with compliance in mind (e.g., PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001).
• Ensure robust encryption, audit trails, and access control mechanisms.
• Guide backend design for high-volume transactional systems (e.g., ledgers, payments, identity verification).
2. Product Collaboration
• Work closely with Product Managers to understand business goals and translate them into technical requirements.
• Provide effort estimates and feasibility assessments for new features.
• Influence product roadmap with technical insights and constraints.
• Proactively address technical debt
3. Team Enablement
• Lead and mentor teams of engineers in secure coding practices and fintech-specific architectural concerns.
• Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Lead sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives (in Agile environments).
4. Delivery Ownership
• Own the full lifecycle of product features—from design to deployment and maintenance.
• Ensure on-time delivery by identifying and mitigating risks early.
• Champion CI/CD practices and ensure smooth, automated deployment pipelines.
5. Reliability, Security, and Observability
• Own the uptime, latency, and performance SLAs of financial APIs and services.
• Proactively monitor risk vectors and enforce observability via metrics, logging, and alerting.
• Work with DevSecOps to embed security testing into the CI/CD pipeline.
6. Stakeholder Communication
• Serve as the main technical point of contact for the Origination product suite.
• Communicate progress, challenges, and trade-offs with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Present architectural proposals and technical updates to leadership.

Technical
• Strong grasp of SaaS architectures (multi-tenancy, API design, data security).
• Familiarity with industry tech stack (e.g., React, Java, .NET, AWS, Azure)
• Understanding of cloud-native principles, DevOps, and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Agile/SCRUM experience
Leadership
• Strong decision-making and prioritization skills.
• Ability to balance speed and quality under business pressures.
• Strong communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, especially in regulated contexts.
• Conflict resolution and emotional intelligence.
Domain
• Experience with financial regulations (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR, PSD2).
• Familiarity with fintech standards and third-party integrations (e.g. Decision Engines, ID&V, Swift, ISO 20022).
Success Metrics
• System Trustworthiness: Uptime, performance, technical SLA adherence.
• Compliance Alignment: Passing audits, traceability of changes, secure defaults.
• Delivery Efficiency: Timely delivery of roadmap items with minimal rollback or hotfixes.
• Security Posture: Number of vulnerabilities found internally vs externally.
• Team Health: Retention, clarity of technical direction, team engagement.
