Sheffield – 2 to 3 years of post‑graduate experience needed. This is a fast‑track role to enable Chartered Engineering status (ICE/IStructE).
Key Responsibilities
* Detailed Infrastructure Design: produce final drawings and calculations for technical approvals (Building Control, NHBC), focusing on adoptable works including S278/S38 Highways and S104 Drainage agreements.
* Pre‑Planning Expertise: lead resolution of planning conditions by completing pre‑purchase feasibility studies, drainage feasibility reports, and providing highways advice.
* Ground Modelling: prepare 3D ground models for accurate volume calculations, cut and fill exercises, and to define vertical road profiles.
* Hydrology: contribute to Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs) and design sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and pre‑planning solutions.
* Stakeholder Liaison: act as the key technical point of contact for clients, Local Highway Authorities (LHAs), Water Authorities, and the Environment Agency.
* Professional Development: take ownership of career progression and work toward achieving Chartered Engineer status.
Candidate Requirements
* Education: a degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
* Experience: 2–3 years of post‑graduate experience within a UK engineering consultancy.
* Design Knowledge: proven experience designing and detailing highways and drainage schemes to adoption standards (S38, S278, S104).
* Software Proficiency: working knowledge of hydraulic and CAD packages such as MicroDrainage (WinDES); experience with AutoCAD/Autodesk Civil 3D, Tuflow, or HECRAS is an advantage.
* Foundational Knowledge: strong understanding of Civil Engineering principles, current industry standards, and best practice regarding SuDS and FRAs.
