Learning Support Assistant – Maldon
Pay rate: £13.67 – £15.00 per hour

We’re looking for a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team and provide one-on-one support for a child with special educational needs (SEN) in a primary school in Maldon. This is a full-time role with the exciting potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

What’s the role about?
As a Learning Support Assistant, you’ll be working closely with a child with special educational needs, supporting them in both academic and social development. You’ll work alongside the class teacher and wider school team to create a nurturing, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Your role will be instrumental in helping the child feel confident, motivated, and ready to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide one-on-one support to a SEN child, helping them engage with class activities and learning tasks.
* Support the child’s emotional and social development, ensuring they feel safe, valued, and included.
* Adapt teaching materials and approaches to meet the individual needs of the child, under the guidance of the class teacher.
* Assist with classroom management and contribute to a calm, focused, and positive learning environment.
* Encourage independence by helping the child develop problem-solving, communication, and social interaction skills.
* Collaborate with school staff, including teachers and the SENCo, to monitor and support the child’s progress.
* Provide feedback on the child’s progress and well-being to the teaching team and parents when required.
What we’re looking for:
* Experience working with children, particularly those with SEN, is desirable but not essential.
* A patient, caring, and approachable personality that helps build trust with children.
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to work closely with children, teachers, and parents.
* A genuine passion for making a positive impact and supporting children with additional needs.
* Proactive, adaptable, and ready to meet the unique needs of each child.
* A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or similar) is desirable but not essential.
* A positive, can-do attitude.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
