To complete a range of cleansing activities required to ensure Cheshire East is a clean, safe, attractive place to live with well-maintained streets and public spaces. Activities will predominately include litter picking, emptying litter and dog bins, the removal of fly tipped waste, fly posting and graffiti, along with the operation of compact mechanical sweepers and other associated equipment.
Cheshire East Council is looking for a Street Cleansing Operative to complement our existing team.
We are looking for somebody who will be committed to providing an effective frontline service to the residents of Cheshire East in a courteous and professional manner. You will be expected to undertake a range of tasks including litter picking, the emptying of litter and dog bins and removal of fly tipped waste as well as driving a 3.5 tonne transit tipper/ alternatively fuelled vehicle and 4.5 tonne compact sweeper (with appropriate licence & CPC).
We are looking for people with knowledge of Cheshire East and an understanding of suitable cleansing methods. The need to work in a safe manner is paramount and therefore an understanding of relevant safe working practices i.e. Working on the highway is essential. Street Cleansing Operatives are expected to interact and communicate effectively with members of the public to portray a professional image of the council and deliver a quality service.
You will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions and exert physical effort for much of the working day in order to fulfil the requirements of the role.
Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and experience carrying out driver checks is desirable, however full training will be given.
