Senior Asset Manager – On‑site technical and commercial lead for a UK renewable asset portfolio.
Responsibilities
Portfolio Performance & Monitoring
Take day‑to‑day ownership of technical and financial performance across the operational renewable portfolio, tracking output against budgets and forecasts; monitor SCADA and asset management platforms, identifying and escalating underperformance, faults, and data anomalies; produce regular performance reports for investors and lenders, including monthly and quarterly analysis of performance variances; conduct periodic site visits to assess asset condition, verify contractor compliance, and identify operational improvement opportunities.
O&M Contractor Management
Manage O&M contractors across the portfolio, ensuring service delivery in line with contractual KPIs, response times, and maintenance schedules; chair operational review meetings, drive accountability for fault resolution and performance improvements; administer O&M contracts – including variations, performance deductions and contractual notices; support procurement of new O&M contracts or retendering, providing technical input into scopes of work, KPIs and evaluation criteria.
Acquisitions, Construction & Asset Transfers
Provide operational input to technical due diligence for acquisitions – reviewing O&M arrangements, historical performance data, and asset condition; support handover of newly constructed assets into operations, establishing monitoring processes, maintenance regimes and performance benchmarks; assist in preparing technical documentation for refinancing, financing or asset transaction processes.
Revenue Optimisation & Commercial Performance
Work closely with commercial teams and external partners to maximise revenue performance; ensure accurate metering, settlement and revenue capture, liaising with meter operators, settlement agents and off‑takers; track and recover revenue losses arising from curtailment, grid constraints, equipment failures or contractor performance issues.
OEM & Warranty Management
Manage relationships with manufacturers and suppliers, monitoring warranty obligations and progressing claims; coordinate technical support for fault diagnosis, equipment replacements and performance investigations to minimise downtime.
HSE, Regulatory, Grid & Compliance
Maintain compliance with regulatory obligations, permits, licences and industry requirements; liaise with network operators and stakeholders regarding connection agreements, outages and obligations; support compliance with environmental, health and safety and operational governance across the portfolio.
Capital Projects & Asset Improvement
Identify and scope capital maintenance and performance improvement initiatives; manage capital projects on operational assets, including equipment replacement and upgrade programmes; contribute to asset life extension assessments, performance enhancement initiatives and repowering or augmentation studies.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential Experience
* Demonstrable experience in asset management, technical operations or O&M within the renewable energy sector.
* Experience with utility‑scale solar PV and/or battery energy storage assets.
* Hands‑on experience with SCADA, asset monitoring platforms and performance analysis tools.
* Proven ability to manage O&M contractors and hold them accountable to contractual KPIs.
* Knowledge of UK grid connection obligations and operational compliance.
* Experience producing technical and commercial performance reports for investors, lenders or senior stakeholders.
* Familiarity with energy yield assessment, forecasting and operational data analysis.
Technical Knowledge
* Working knowledge of solar PV and battery energy storage systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
* Ability to identify fault modes, interpret performance losses and coordinate corrective actions.
* Familiarity with OEM warranty processes and supplier engagement.
* Understanding of health, safety and environmental obligations for operational renewable assets.
Commercial & Contractual Experience
* Experience administering O&M or technical service contracts, including performance management and contract change processes.
* Ability to assess and quantify operational impacts on revenue and support recovery actions.
* Familiarity with metering, settlement and energy offtake arrangements.
Qualifications & Skills
* Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Strong analytical and reporting skills, with advanced Excel capability and asset management software experience.
* Excellent organisational skills, capable of managing multiple assets and workstreams simultaneously.
* Strong communication skills, able to present technical information to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
* Willingness to travel to operational sites across the UK as required.
