Blue Recruitment Personnel is seeking a highly organised and proactive Yard Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of a busy yard in Bardon Hill, Leicestershire.
This is a key role responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the yard, maintaining safety standards and managing a team of yard staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate all yard activities, including goods in/out, storage and dispatch.
Manage and motivate a team of yard staff, providing training, guidance and performance feedback.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular risk assessments and safety audits.
Maintain accurate records of stock levels, deliveries and dispatches.
Operate and maintain yard equipment, including forklifts and other machinery.
Organise and optimise yard layout to maximise space and efficiency.
Liaise with transport companies, suppliers and customers to coordinate deliveries and collections.
Monitor and control yard security, ensuring the premises are secure at all times.
Implement and enforce company policies and procedures.
Resolve any issues or problems that arise in the yard promptly and effectively.
Requirements:
Proven experience in a supervisory role within a yard, warehouse, or logistics environment.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Good knowledge of health and safety regulations.
Forklift truck license (or willingness to obtain one).
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Good IT skills, including experience with stock control systems.
Full UK driving license.
Desirable:
IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
Experience with waste management or recycling operations.
First Aid certification.
