About the role
We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in doing things properly. In this role, you’ll be dealing directly with members of the public, both in person and in writing, helping to resolve queries and make sure things are handled fairly and in line with procedures and legislation. Some conversations will be straightforward, others may involve customers who are upset, angry, or frustrated, so confidence, patience and a calm approach are key.
About The Job
* Salary: £25,989 – £32,597 per year
* Hours per week: 37
* Contract type: Permanent
You’ll spend part of your time working with computer systems, preparing letters, updating records, producing straightforward reports and using Word and Excel for everyday tasks. There is also a financial element to the role, including reconciling cash and cheque receipts and ensuring financial records and statements are accurate and completed on time.
Please note this role does not attract sponsorship.
About You
You’ve had some experience working with members of the public and you know how to handle a wide range of situations with tact, professionalism and empathy. You’re comfortable communicating clearly, whether that’s understanding straightforward letters, writing responses, or explaining things to customers face to face.
You’re organised, able to manage your own workload, and you take care to input data accurately. Using Microsoft Word and Excel feels familiar to you, and you’re confident working with basic spreadsheets and word‑processing tasks.
This is a public‑facing role so you’ll need to show fluency in speaking and writing English.

Application Process
Because of the nature of this job, it will be necessary for the appropriate level of criminal record disclosure to be undertaken. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore applicants are required to declare all unspent cautions and convictions, as well as any adult cautions (simple or conditional), and spent convictions that are not protected as defined by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2020). A person’s criminal record will not in itself prevent a person from being appointed to this post.
Applicants will not be refused posts because of offences which are not relevant to, and do not place them at or make them a risk in, the role for which they are applying. However, in the event of the employment being taken up, any failure to disclose such an offence, as detailed above, will result in dismissal or disciplinary action by the Authority.
On occasions, we may close a vacancy early due to a very high number of applications being received.
