STEPS is looking for like-minded nurses who share the values and philosophies integral to the success of STEPS to join their team. You will encounter various disabling injuries and illnesses and be an integral part of the team supporting clients to live as independently as possible. As a Rehabilitation Nurse, you will work closely with clients, their families, and the interdisciplinary team. You will be responsible for caring for clients' physical and emotional needs, following nursing and rehabilitation care plans, and monitoring their progress. These plans will need reviewing and updating to reflect rehabilitation goals. Rehabilitation nurses maintain high levels of clinical skills while helping clients exercise to gain strength, assist with adaptive devices, and act as educators and trainers.


Main duties of the job

The Rehabilitation Nurse at STEPS assists clients with personal care needs while supporting independence. Responsibilities include administering medications, assessing self-medication needs, and participating in advanced skills training such as tracheostomy care, cough assists, CPAP, and bladder scanning. You will attend goal-setting and progress review meetings and help lead a team of Rehabilitation Assistants to ensure smooth therapy schedules.

About us

STEPS is a purpose-built 23-bedroom rehabilitation facility on Abbeydale Road, Sheffield, providing high-quality care from a range of specialists. It offers a non-clinical, comfortable, and homely environment with access to various therapies and advanced rehabilitation equipment. The interdisciplinary team includes consultants in rehabilitation medicine, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, neuropsychologists, prosthetic and orthotic specialists, and experienced nurses in complex care. Job responsibilities

As a Nurse at STEPS, you will ensure clients receive high-quality, holistic nursing care, working as part of the interdisciplinary team to support clients' privacy, dignity, and independence. You will align with STEPS values and behaviours at all times.

Specific responsibilities include:

* Assessing, implementing, and monitoring individual care plans
* Involving clients and carers in goal development and delivery
* Providing clinical leadership and support to team members when directed
* Escalating issues following STEPS procedures
* Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
* Ensuring compliance with clinical governance
* Participating in clinical audits
* Carrying out procedures related to personal care and nutrition, including emergencies
* Performing duties as outlined in the work plan

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered Nurse on the NMC register
* Eligibility to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)
* Trainer/train the trainer qualification
* Mentorship or teaching qualification
* Staff management/supervision courses


Experience

* Nursing experience with a rehabilitation component, including placements for newly qualified nurses
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office
* Experience within governance frameworks
* Knowledge of the Data Protection Act
* Rehabilitation experience in neurology, orthopaedics, spinal injuries, or complex polytrauma
* Experience developing and delivering training
* Audit experience


Qualities

* Creative, innovative, inclusive, and engaging approach to client care
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
* Ability to build effective interdisciplinary relationships

This post is subject to DBS checks in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975.

£16.26 to £25.56 per hour, with a generous benefits package and enhanced rates for unsocial hours.
