Senior Technician
As a Senior Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting our Aberdeen workshop operations. You’ll work hands‑on with electrical and electronic equipment, carrying out assembly, maintenance, repair, and testing activities to a high standard. Your work will help ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys practical problem‑solving, thrives in a collaborative environment, and takes pride in delivering quality technical work.
Your role and responsibilities
1. Carry out hands‑on engineering, assembly, maintenance, and testing of electrical/electronic equipment within the Aberdeen workshop
2. Repair, maintain, and troubleshoot equipment as required
3. Operate test equipment to ensure assets meet required standards
4. Work closely with a small team of engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders to complete tasks on time and within budget
5. Apply a disciplined and systematic approach to prioritising, scheduling, and completing tasks
6. Deliver work to the expected quality, within agreed timelines and budget
7. Maintain accurate assembly, maintenance, and test records to support traceability
8. Manage stock levels and ensure accurate inventory control
9. Maintain tools and equipment, arranging repairs or replacements when needed
10. Identify and communicate any workshop capacity shortfalls
11. Suggest improvements to methods, processes, and equipment
12. Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders across multiple projects and timelines
13. Adhere to Fugro’s Health & Safety and quality management system requirements at all times
14. Support good practice within the workshop and share knowledge with colleagues
15. Occasionally support on‑site activities when required
What you’ll need to thrive in this role
16. HND or equivalent qualification in engineering
17. Experience in soldering, crimping, electrical panel and cabinet wiring
18. Ability to read electrical diagrams and general arrangement schematics
19. Experience assembling, manufacturing, and testing electrical/electronic equipment
20. Confident using oscilloscopes, PSUs, voltmeters, and other test equipment
21. Familiarity with quality assurance processes
22. Competence using a range of computer software
