This role supports the provision of palliative care to children, young people, and families living with a life-limited condition. Palliative care includes providing respite breaks, enabling children to have fun and make memories, adding life to shortened years. You will deliver high-quality, holistic, family-centred, and compassionate care while meeting the complex clinical needs of the children in our care. The hospice offers end-of-life care to a small number of children, working with specialist teams to provide training and advice for effective symptom management. You will work as part of a large team comprising clinical staff, activities coordinators, and the child and family support team.
Be integral in supporting patient safety and driving high-quality, evidence-based care across the team.
Work as a shift lead, ensuring appropriate allocation of patients and providing support to junior staff where needed.
Be a role model to the team, demonstrating professional behaviours, clinical skills, curiosity, and risk management.
Support the professional development of the clinical team through teaching, feedback, and fostering growth.
Collaborate with the senior management team to support effective change management.
Participate in quality governance processes, including audits and workstreams such as safeguarding, transition, and medicines management.
Engage with colleagues within and beyond the hospice.
Contribute to delivering high-quality nursing care to children and young people receiving respite and end-of-life care at the hospice.
