Job Description
Nottinghamshire Children’s Services are seeking an experienced social work leader for the post of Head of Service for Strategic Safeguarding. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a range of operational and strategic Social Care services, and to be a systems leader within the Safeguarding Children’s Partnership.
The services you will be responsible for will give you opportunities to influence policies, procedures, and service delivery. You will lead/co‑lead several strands of safeguarding improvement work including developing and implementing the joint Neglect Strategy for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. You will chair the Channel Panel and take a lead role for Children’s Services on the Prevent Agenda – an exciting opportunity to shape how we identify and manage the risk posed by radicalisation of children and young people.
As Nottinghamshire seeks to deliver the Governments Children Social Care Reforms you will play a role in the Partnership’s governance arrangements for the Families First for Children Programme. You will work with your Heads of Service colleagues in Help Care and Protection (Social Care) to develop our vision for Multi‑Agency Child Protection Teams and the future of Independent Chairs Service, supported by an experienced project management team.
The role also provides opportunities to stay connected to social work practice through its operational responsibility for the Managing Allegations Service and the Independent Chair Service, in being an Agency Decision Maker for Adoption and Fostering, and in chairing secure panels. You will work collaboratively with Head of Service colleagues across children’s services to influence practice and be an integral part of a leadership team that is focused on improving outcomes for children.
Jobs you Will Report To The Director For Children’s Strategic Commissioning. Line Manage Up To 6 Children’s Service Managers, And Have Direct Responsibility For The Following Countywide Services:

* Managing Allegations against Professionals Service
* Nottinghamshire Safeguarding Children Partnership Business Unit
