Electrical Controls Engineer - Automation Specialist
This is a permanent role that requires an Electrical Controls Engineer with experience in automation and controls systems.

* Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our team as an Automation Specialist. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, automation, and controls systems.
* Responsibilities:
o Responsible for the development, implementation, documentation, testing and maintenance of software for Inverter drives, Programmable safety systems, PLCs, Servo drives, SCADA system, and Operator interface (HMI) screens.
o Train and provide advice to Engineers and Operators as required.
o PLC alterations & improvements.
o New installations, including programming of software.
o Ensuring machines and equipment are safe, working efficiently and fit for purpose.
o Collaborate across teams and contribute to key improvement projects while gaining experience with a variety of control systems.
o Diagnose and troubleshoot complex machine faults to reduce downtime.
o Develop automation skills and techniques through OEM training.
o Coach and mentor Maintenance Engineers on control systems.
o Proactive in detecting, reporting, diagnosing and predicting potential or existing software and electronic issues on all equipment.
o Involvement in fault-finding, diagnostics, and implementing permanent solutions to ensure safety, quality, and efficiency.
* Required Skills and Qualifications:
o Must possess an electrical engineering qualification (HNC/HND Level).
o A working knowledge of PLC systems and HMI software.
o Experience maintaining electrical/control systems on complex processes and/or high-speed production equipment.
o Experience troubleshooting, testing, and repairing instrumentation devices.
o Experience in PLC touchscreen controls and electrical maintenance.
o Problem-solving and root-cause analysis experience.
o PLC programming skills.
o Time served Electrical Engineer.
o Automation / Controls apprentice with several years post qualification work experience within a manufacturing environment.
o HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
o Ability to fault find and implement program modifications on a range of PLCs & SCADA.
o Knowledge of servo drives and inverters.
o Experience of fault-finding on industrial communication networks.
o Experience of designing & modifying control circuits and program logic.
