Job Purpose
To provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to residents, ensuring their physical, emotional, and social needs are met. The Senior Care Assistant will supervise junior care staff, maintain compliance with care standards, and demonstrate competency in medication administration.
Key Responsibilities
* Resident Care:
* Assist residents with daily living activities (washing, dressing, eating, mobility).
* Monitor residents' health and well-being, reporting changes promptly.
* Promote dignity, respect, and independence for all residents.
* Medication Administration:
* Administer prescribed medication safely and accurately in line with care home policies and legal requirements.
* Maintain up-to-date medication records and MAR charts.
* Complete and refresh medication competency assessments as required.
* Report and document any medication errors or discrepancies immediately.
* Leadership & Supervision:
* Support and guide Care Assistants, ensuring high standards of care.
* Assist with staff training and development, including medication handling.
* Act as a point of contact for residents and families when senior staff are unavailable.
* Compliance & Documentation:
* Ensure adherence to CQC standards and care home policies.
* Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives.
* Communication:
* Liaise with healthcare professionals, families, and team members effectively.
Skills & Qualifications
* Essential:
* Previous experience in a care setting.
* Medication administration competency (training and assessment completed).
* Strong leadership and communication skills.
* Desirable:
* Knowledge of safeguarding and infection control procedures.
