Electrical Assembly Technician - Contract Role
Location: Hedge End
Hours: 37.5 per week (Monday to Friday, between 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM)
Contract: 4 months initially (potential for extension)
Rate: c£14.87/hour (PAYE) or c£19.91/hour (Umbrella)
About the Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Electrical Assembly Technician to support their Manufacturing and R&D Engineers. Reporting to the Operations Test Team Manager, you'll play a key role in building, modifying, and maintaining electronic test equipment used across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Build and wire test equipment and enclosures to a high standard.
2. Carry out electrical cable assembly, PCB modifications, and related tasks.
3. Support fault-finding and repair of test setups, including stripping down and replacing parts as needed.
4. Perform and document monthly ESD safety checks.
5. Carry out workstation grounding tasks (e.g., connecting Earth points, soldering broken ESD wrist strap cables).
6. Work with JIRA (Atlassian) ticketing system to manage task priorities (experience is a plus).
7. Read and interpret simple wiring diagrams accurately.
What We're Looking For:
8. Practical experience in electrical assembly, wiring, and test equipment setup.
9. Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams and schematics.
10. Familiarity with ESD safety standards and procedures.
11. Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
12. Self-motivated and able to manage workload effectively.
13. JIRA or similar ticket system experience is advantageous but not essential.
