The Housing Repairs & Maintenance Service – Heating, Mechanical and Electrical section – is seeking a dedicated and forward‑thinking Technical Team Leader (Electrical) to join our team and support our continued drive for service excellence.
In this pivotal role, you will provide day‑to‑day leadership to a team of skilled operatives, ensuring that all electrical works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high professional standard. We are looking for someone with a proactive, solutions-focused mindset who can confidently support staff, manage workloads, and uphold our commitment to outstanding customer service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead, support, and manage a team of up to 12 electrical operatives, including apprentices, ensuring high performance and consistent service delivery.
2. Provide expert technical guidance and act as a point of escalation for operational and electrical compliance issues.
3. Oversee and support the use of mobile dispatch systems, ensuring operatives work effectively and efficiently.
4. Produce and review reports relating to service performance, compliance, and operational challenges.
5. Work collaboratively with colleagues and partners to develop safe working practices and promote a positive team culture.
6. Report directly to the Technical Services Manager (Electrical and Lifts) and contribute to strategic planning and service improvements.
7. Assist with monitoring budgets, understanding financial constraints, and supporting accurate forecasting.
About You
We are seeking someone who brings both technical capability and strong leadership qualities. Ideally, you will:
8. Have some experience managing staff or leading a technical team in an electrical or repairs environment.
9. Understand key electrical compliance requirements and reporting processes.
10. Demonstrate excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to address issues promptly and confidently.
11. Be flexible, approachable, and committed to supporting your team and the wider service.
12. Either hold, or be willing to work towards, a recognised Health and Safety qualification.
