Technical Safety Engineer
Our client, a leading independent Oil & Gas operator, is currently seeking a Technical Safety Engineer to join their QSSHE team, located in Norwich.
This is a full-time, 12-month contract based in Norwich, working Monday to Friday.
Essential Requirements / Qualifications:
* Higher technical qualification within engineering fields such as Process Safety, Chemical, or Mechanical engineering.
* 10+ years experience in Safety Engineering within the Oil & Gas Industry.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Word/Excel), PHAST, PHA-Pro, BowTie XP, FLARESIM software.
* Ability to prepare technical reports and letters, meet deadlines, and work in an organized and methodical manner.
Desirable Requirements:
* Chartered status in mechanical, chemical, or process engineering.
* Experience in both design and operational roles.
Job Overview:
The Technical Safety Engineer will support the SNS operation by ensuring compliance with UK QSSHE legislation, codes of practice, guidelines, industry standards, and best practices.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Conducting in-house safety studies such as Total Risk Management, HAZID, Bowtie, ALARP.
* Developing Barrier Diagrams (Bowties).
* Performing consequence modelling using DNV GL PHAST or FLARESIM software.
* Carrying out Mini Quantitative Risk Assessments (QRA), including Event and Fault Tree development.
* Hazardous Area Classification.
* Fire and Explosion Risk Assessment.
* Preparing Safety Case Material Changes.
* Conducting 5-year Thorough Reviews.
* Knowledge of COMAH regulations and Computational Fluid Dynamics Modelling is desirable.
Supporting the scope of safety studies from contractors, identifying opportunities for improving QSSHE standards, and providing safety engineering support for Management of Change processes.
* Engaging with operations and projects to ensure regulatory compliance and proper permits.
* Providing guidance on legislation such as OSDR/SCR, PFEER, DSEAR, DCR, PSR, and PSSR.
* Liaising with regulatory bodies and supporting Safety Case Regulations (SCR).
