Offer description

FULL TIME (10 PA, with an 8 DCC and 2 SPA split) Fixed term post for 3 years. Salary Scale £64,158‑£99,975 per annum. Are you a talented International Psychiatrist looking to boost your career in the UK through a GMC‑approved sponsorship scheme? NHS Fife has created a number of CESR Fellowship posts in General Adult Psychiatry and Older Adult Psychiatry to support entry into the Specialist register through the Portfolio pathway.

Our 3‑year programme is specially designed to provide international psychiatrists with all the necessary support, including visa sponsorship, relocation support and bespoke mentoring to achieve CESR in their required field. The scheme will give candidates exposure to various clinical settings to develop the knowledge, skills and experience required by GMC, and opportunities for participation in clinical governance. Candidates will remain on the programme for at least three years (subject to satisfactory progression). The doctor will be given a specific job plan with special‑interest sessions to cover the GMC criteria for clinical knowledge, skill and experience.

Eligibility

You must have at least 3 years training in psychiatry with a formal qualification such as M.D. (Psychiatry) or other postgraduate qualifications recognised by GMC, and be currently engaged in clinical practice over the last 12 months and meet GMC’s evidence of knowledge of English requirements. Candidates previously refused GMC registration through alternative routes including PLAB will not be ordinarily considered for the programme.

Key Benefits

* Sponsorship for full GMC registration
* Opportunities to gain experience in specific clinical placements tailored to the individual’s work experience against Specialty Curriculum requirements, including inpatient and community work, and in a variety of psychiatric sub‑specialties that may be required to reach Consultant status
* Bespoke learning plan and scheme designed with clinical experience and supervision in all key areas and components of expected competencies (clinical and communication skills, teaching, research, psychotherapy, leadership and management, clinical governance)
* 2 SPA (non‑clinical sessions) to allow sufficient time to develop the CESR portfolio
* Study leave allowance
* Active educational programme, including a CESR‑specific teaching programme
* A local CESR tutor
* Dedicated clinical and educational supervision
* Regular review of CESR portfolio by the educational supervisor
* Active peer group of fellow clinicians en route to CESR
* Relocation package up to £8,000
* Visa sponsorship is available for this post, if necessary (for further information, see the UK Visas and Immigration website and the Health and Care Worker visa – GOV.UK)
