In role you'll be ensuring the Building Safety Officers are effectively able to achieve their objectives and assist in ensuring we achieve compliance with all statutory provisions under the Building Safety Act in our Higher Risk Buildings. You'll be representing Aster as the Accountable Person, so your confidence in providing this support will be key to the success of the role.
You will work collaboratively with the wider business regarding building safety compliance, working closely with the Building Safety Manager and other leaders to ensure building safety is promoted.
Key responsibilities
* Lead a team of Building Safety Officers carrying out day-to-day activities, ensuring delivery of a customer‑focussed, compliance‑driven service.
* Ensure an onsite presence is provided in our High Risk Buildings, allocating responsibility as required.
* Use Aster's systems to ensure fire safety measures and controls are operated effectively on a daily basis.
* Support the Building Safety Manager with providing assurance to the business on health and safety matters.
* Liaise closely with the Service Compliance Team to ensure all monitoring checks are undertaken and that regular audit reports are provided to the Director and duty holder.
This is a hybrid role, where you can mainly base yourself from home. You will carry out monthly visits to our high risk buildings, mainly in London, but you will be required to travel throughout our operating region as needed.
As travel is required you will hold a full UK driving licence and will have access to a vehicle for work purposes.
Our operating region includes London, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall.

Qualifications & experience
Are you an experienced Building Safety professional? If so why not join the Aster Group as our Building Safety Team Leader? You will bring the following to the role:
* Good understanding of Building and Fire Safety strategies and systems within social housing.
* Health and safety qualification and Fire Door Inspection qualification (or equivalent).
* Understanding of risk and compliance management.
* Experience leading a highly motivated team executing essential health and safety work.
* Strong process management skills to manage dates and keep accurate records.
* Confidence in approaching complex situations, considering risk and the bigger picture.
