Cheshire East Highways manages over 2700 km of highway network across the Cheshire East area, aiming to deliver the highest standard of highway service while maintaining value for money for residents and businesses.
Role
* Support senior permit technicians in overseeing the inspection regime and related activities of the Network Management Permit Technicians, and perform the duties of a Permit Technician for statutory & private undertakers and Cheshire East highway works under NRSWA 1991, TMA 2004, and the Highway Maintenance Act 1980.
* Co‑ordinate, prioritise and regulate all activities on the highway network to discharge network management duties and protect the integrity of the street.
* Co‑ordinate the highway network through the review of all permit applications in line with the West and Shires Permit (WaSP) Scheme, and support coordination of Skips/Scaffolds/S50 road opening licences, S171 applications and road closures.
* Liaise with members of the public, local elected council members, town councils and other local authorities on matters relating to NRSWA and TMA to identify improvement opportunities and develop best practice.
* Attend site/planning meetings and facilitate major schemes across the Cheshire East Highways network, leading support for statutory undertakers to deliver their works packages with minimal impact to the network.
Qualifications
* Knowledge of NRSWA/TMA legislation, specifications, and relevant codes of practice (Desirable).
* Experience working within a local authority environment (Desirable).
* Experience communicating with local elected council members, the public, MPs and affected stakeholders (Desirable).
* Knowledge of street works systems such as Symology, Confirm, Street Manager or equivalent (Desirable).
* Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Publisher.
