Trading Analyst – Middle Office | Physical Commodities | Central London (Hybrid)
A global leader in the Energy and Commodities sector, managing one of the world’s largest and most diverse energy portfolios, is hiring a Trading Analyst to join their growing Middle Office function. This is a key role supporting daily trading activities with a focus on P&L reporting, trade validation, and exposure analysis across physical and financial commodities.
Key Responsibilities of the Trading Analyst - Middle Office:
* Support the daily production and validation of P&L reports for multiple trading books, ensuring accuracy and consistency of trade and market data
* Work closely with traders to clarify trade bookings, strategy execution, and deal amendments
* Monitor and analyse exposure, market risk, and credit metrics, escalating anomalies as necessary
* Partner with finance and risk teams during month-end close to reconcile P&L and provide commentary on variances and provisions
* Analyse the impact of FX and interest rates on open positions and P&L, collaborating with Treasury to ensure alignment
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems and processes within the Middle Office to enhance reporting and data integrity
* Support knowledge transfer across the team by sharing insights and mentoring more junior colleagues
Key Requirements of the Trading Analyst - Middle Office:
* Must have: Experience in an energy or physical commodities trading environment (e.g LNG, Power, Coal, Freight)
* Must have: Direct exposure to P&L analysis, trade validation, or market risk reporting within a trading environment
* Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to work under pressure and handle large datasets with precision
* Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with trading systems; knowledge of SQL, Python, or VBA is a plus
* Strong communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with front office, risk, and finance stakeholders
* A proactive, problem-solving mindset and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural, fast-paced team environment
