Role Purpose
As a Resident Engineer, you will operate as a multi-skilled engineer responsible for the maintenance, service, repair, and replacement of electrical and mechanical systems within a critical healthcare environment. You will ensure all building services operate safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with statutory and contractual requirements.
Working as part of an on-site engineering team, the successful multi-skilled engineer will play a key role in maintaining business continuity in a highly critical setting where reliability and professionalism are essential.
Key Responsibilities

Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance as a multi-skilled engineer on electrical and mechanical systems

Maintain and repair plant and equipment typically found in critical hospital environments, including:
*
Electrical distribution systems
*
HVAC systems (AHUs, FCUs, chillers, boilers)
*
Pumps, motors, and associated mechanical plant
*
Emergency lighting and power systems
*
Respond effectively to breakdowns and emergency situations as a multi-skilled engineer
*
Ensure all works are completed in line with health & safety regulations and site procedures
*
Accurately complete maintenance records and documentation
*
Liaise with subcontractors and specialist service providers when required
*
Support continuous improvement of building services and site reliability
*
Maintain a professional and customer-focused approach at all times as a multi-skilled engineer
Skills & Experience Required
*
Recognised electrical or mechanical engineering qualification (NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds or equivalent)
*
Proven experience working as a multi-skilled engineer across both electrical and mechanical disciplines
*
Experience working within critical or commercial environments (hospital experience highly desirable)
*
Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills expected of a multi-skilled engineer
*
Knowledge of statutory compliance and safe systems of work
*
Ability to work continental shift patterns (days and nights)
*
Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to work
