1:1 Teaching Assistant – Islington
Full-time | Monday to Friday
Destination Education, a specialist education recruitment agency, is seeking a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work in a primary school based in Islington. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting from Monday 13th April, offering consistency within a supportive school environment.
This role involves working closely on a 1:1 basis with a Year 1 pupil who has experienced trauma and is currently in care. It is a highly rewarding position suited to someone who is patient, nurturing, and able to provide consistent emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day.
The role:
Full-time, long-term 1:1 support role
Working with a Year 1 pupil
Supporting emotional regulation and engagement in learning
Building a strong, trusting relationship with the child
Working hours: 8:00am – 6:00pmWhat You’ll Do:
Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 1 pupil, helping them access learning and feel safe within the classroom environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement strategies that support the child’s emotional wellbeing, behaviour, and development, ensuring a positive and structured school experience.
Requirements:
Experience working with children (school-based preferred)
A patient, calm, and empathetic approach
Understanding of trauma-informed practice (preferred)
Strong communication and teamwork skills
