Overview

Salary: Up to £56,000.00 FTE per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification).

We have an opportunity for a Lead Clinical Psychologist to join the Psychology department. This is a part‑time role for 24 hours a week with a flexible shift pattern.


Main duties of the job

* Provide strategic leadership for psychological services within the Rehabilitation Centre and across relevant pathways.
* Act as the senior clinical psychology lead, ensuring safe, evidence‑based, and patient‑centred practice.
* Contribute to hospital and corporate service planning, representing psychological services at senior management forums.
* Lead on outcome measurement, performance indicators, and service development initiatives for psychology.
* Deliver expert psychological assessment and intervention for patients with neurological, psychological, and physical health conditions.
* Use advanced knowledge of neuropsychological, cognitive, behavioural, and systemic models to inform treatment.

WHAT DO YOU DO


Clinical Leadership and Strategy

* Provide strategic leadership for psychological services within the Rehabilitation Centre and across relevant pathways.
* Act as the senior clinical psychology lead, ensuring safe, evidence‑based, and patient‑centred practice.
* Contribute to hospital and corporate service planning, representing psychological services at senior management forums.
* Lead on outcome measurement, performance indicators, and service development initiatives for psychology.


Clinical Assessment and Intervention

* Deliver expert psychological assessment and intervention for patients with neurological, psychological, and physical health conditions.
* Use advanced knowledge of neuropsychological, cognitive, behavioural, and systemic models to inform treatment.
* Provide specialist formulations to guide MDT case planning and rehabilitation pathways.
* Support complex cases, providing senior‑level expertise for decision‑making and care planning.


Teamwork and Staff Support

* Lead and nurture a team of psychologists, trainees, and assistants, ensuring supervision, appraisal, and development.
* Provide reflective practice, consultation, and psychological input to support the wellbeing of the wider MDT.
* Deliver teaching, training, and psychoeducation for staff, families, and carers on psychological aspects of rehabilitation and recovery.
* Provide debriefing or staff support following difficult or distressing clinical events.


Governance, Quality, and Risk Management

* Ensure all psychological practice complies with HCPC/BPS standards, safeguarding, and Circle Health Group governance frameworks.
* Lead audits, research, and service evaluation to monitor quality and embed continuous improvement.
* Maintain accurate documentation and ensure consistent use of outcome measures and EHR systems.
* Advise hospital leadership on psychological risk management, safeguarding, and ethical issues.


Service Development and Research

* Drive innovation in rehabilitation psychology, piloting and embedding new evidence‑based practices.
* Lead on research and publication, contributing to best practice in neurorehabilitation.
* Contribute to growth and reputation of the service, working with consultants and external partners to shape clinical pathways.
* Develop partnerships with academic institutions to support teaching, research, and workforce development.


What do you have

* Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or equivalent) recognised by the HCPC.
* HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical).
* Significant post‑qualification experience in neuropsychology, complex rehabilitation, or physical health settings.
* Demonstrated leadership experience in managing psychology services or teams.
* Expertise in neuropsychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, and therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, ACT, systemic).
* Strong knowledge of the psychological impact of neurological conditions, trauma, and disability.
* Evidence of service development, audit, and research experience.
* Proven ability to influence at senior levels and work effectively within a complex MDT.


Desirable

* Postdoctoral training in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN or equivalent).
* Experience in inpatient or residential neurorehabilitation.
* Publications or presentations in rehabilitation psychology.
* Training in specialist models (e.g., EMDR, CAT, family/systemic therapy).
* Experience contributing to corporate‑level service development or strategy.

Person Specification


Qualifications
