Do you want to make a real difference to young people’s lives? This is a fantastic opportunity to "Step into Youth Work". The Targeted Youth Support team, part of Lancashire County Council’s Children and Family Wellbeing Service, are looking to recruit a 9-hour-a-week worker as Assistant Youth Support Workers for Pendle District who are enthusiastic, organised and passionate about making a difference in young people’s lives.
This post is evening work – usually between 6:30pm and 9:30pm across three evenings. The Service contributes to prevention and early intervention/early help. It enables young people to succeed by providing high-quality informal education opportunities to promote personal and social development. It supports young people who face challenges in education, communities or home life to ensure a successful transition to adulthood.
Focus is on personal and social development—the skills and attributes of young people—rather than merely "fixing a problem". It is an educational process engaging young people in a curriculum that deepens understanding of themselves, their community, and the world, and supports them to proactively bring about positive changes.
In Lancashire, the Targeted Youth Support Team delivers core youth work, including detached/outreach work with young people, SEND work (11–19, up to 25 if SEN), safe spaces, targeted youth places and spaces, youth voice through district councils linked to Lancashire Youth Council and regional/national work. Enhanced programmes may include LGBTQ+ groups or issue-based groups, including mental health supports.

As part of the role, you will be required to undertake your Level 2 youth work qualification. If you do not hold it, Lancashire County Council will support you to complete it in terms of time and cost.
