Job Overview

The Health Care Assistant will provide a mixture of general and specific care to a group of patients under the guidance and supervision of a registered nurse or allied health professional. The HCA will work in patients' own homes as well as in residential homes. The post holder will be expected to become proficient and competent in their area of practice by undertaking competency assessments specific to the area of clinical practice. The HCA will promote optimum independence and individualised client‑centred care to a delegated caseload. The post holder will also support the Community Nursing Team to deliver against key performance indicators and maintain quality of the service. The service is provided seven days per week 4pm-8pm covering the four localities across Herts Valleys.


Responsibilities

* Provide general and specific care to patients in patients' own homes and in residential homes.
* Maintain competence through competency assessments.
* Promote optimum independence and individualised, client‑centred care for delegated caseload.
* Support the Community Nursing Team to deliver against key performance indicators.
* Maintain quality of the service across the Herts Valleys.


Qualifications and Skills

* Genuine interest in continuing to develop skills in healthcare support.
* Ability to work flexibly according to service needs.
* Excellent organisational, time‑management and communication skills.


Schedule & Locations

Part‑time work from 4pm to 8pm. You will be based at one of four sites within the Herts Valley area: Watford (BRE), Hertsmere (Potters Bar Community Hospital), St Albans and Harpenden (Harpenden Memorial Hospital) and Hemel Hempstead (The Forum, Marlowes).
