Year 1 SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Blyth
We are looking for someone patient, supportive and committed to helping children with ASD or speech, language and communication needs. You will join a team that values empathy, creativity and resilience while working closely with pupils who benefit from structured, personalised support.
Responsibilities
1. Provide one to one and small group support based on individual learning plans
2. Use visual aids, sensory resources and communication approaches such as PECS and Makaton
3. Support pupils in developing social, emotional and communication skills
4. Work closely with teachers, the SENCO and visiting specialists
5. Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment
What We’re Looking For
6. Experience supporting children with ASD or communication needs is an advantage
7. Patience, adaptability and a genuine interest in helping children thrive
8. Strong communication and collaborative skills
9. Relevant qualifications such as NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning are welcome but not essential
