Youth Conference Coordinator
Rate of pay: £15.97 per hour
Start date: As soon as possible
Location: Southern Area, including Craigavon, Armagh, Banbridge, Newry, Mourne & Downpatrick

Working hours:
* Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm, with possible evening work offset by time off in lieu
Job Responsibilities:
* Operate within policies and guidelines of the Youth Justice Agency (YJA), as directed by middle and senior management.
* Support and challenge young people (10-17 years old) involved in or on the fringes of the Criminal Justice System to desist from offending and improve their life chances.
* Undertake assessments, including the Youth Justice Agency Assessment, to develop holistic, tailored intervention plans addressing assessed needs, risks, and vulnerabilities related to offending.
* Provide high-quality oral and written reports to facilitate justice processes with Courts and the Public Prosecution Service.
* Participate in and prepare reports for case conferences, reviews, and relevant meetings concerning young people.
* Maintain accurate and timely records in accordance with YJA case recording policy.
* Oversee, supervise, and manage Court Orders, Public Prosecution Service Plans, and voluntary intervention arrangements.
* Conduct Youth Conferences to ensure restorative interventions, considering victims' views where appropriate.
* Work closely with victims to ensure their views are heard and they are engaged, if they wish.
* Ensure intervention plans are informed by assessments and outcomes of Youth Conferences, with regular reviews and evaluations.
* Collaborate with young people, families, communities, and professionals to support positive behavior change and reduce offending.
* Negotiate appropriate interventions with families to address risk areas.
* Establish multi-agency and community networks to deliver interventions and support reintegration of young people into the community.
* Facilitate Youth Engagement Clinics in partnership with police and prosecution services to promote early exit from the criminal justice system and diversionary options.
* Deliver Community Resolution Notice programs for young people referred by police.
* Source, assess risks, and manage suitable Reparative Activity placements.
* Participate in training and support of volunteers, social work and youth work students, and sessional workers.
* Offer meaningful options for those serving sentences.
* Attend supervision, team meetings, training, and staff development activities.
* Perform any other reasonable duties relevant to the role.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
* Degree in Social Work or Youth and Community qualification (proof required).
* Full driving license, use of a car, and relevant insurance.
Desired Qualifications & Experience:
* Knowledge of working with young people in a justice context preferred.
*The successful candidate will be required to complete an Enhanced Access NI check during registration.*
