Overview

Join to apply for the Associate Partner role at Carter Jonas. Based in our Winchester office, you will provide property services including temporary access, acquisition, CPO, compensation, and valuation advice to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (Rail, Road, Energy and Transport). You will help lead, develop and deliver best-in-class strategic and tactical advice to clients in the infrastructure sector.

Responsibilities

* Assist in the delivery of major infrastructure projects for National Bodies and corporate investors.
* Deliver valuation reports in accordance with client instructions and RICS Valuation Standards.
* Develop and pursue new business/relationship opportunities and drive initiatives in the local area.
* Undertake option and lease negotiations, valuations and general professional negotiations.
* Feasibility and development appraisals.
* Site brokerage and, at all times, maintain high standards of service and professional behaviour.
* Negotiate disturbance claims following works.
* Arrange consents for access across third-party land for works.
* Assist in the management and guidance of activities in the area.
* Provide specialist advice on statutory and sectorial process changes.
* Negotiate and manage lease events and asset acquisitions and disposals.
* Identify and optimise opportunities and mitigate risks and liabilities.
* Implement new policies and procedures to increase productivity and efficiency.
* Lead opportunities through to acquisition, including due diligence, negotiating transfer agreements, and project management of capital works where necessary.
* Collaborate effectively with teams across client, Carter Jonas offices and teams in a matrix environment.
* Contribute to the continuous development of efficient internal systems and processes, and optimise IT and other resources.
* Implement policy as required and ensure legal compliance on all work undertaken.
* Manage surveyors within the team.
* Mentor and coach junior members through their professional development.

This job description is not exhaustive and the jobholder may be required to undertake additional duties to ensure the smooth running of the department.


What will it take to be successful?

Ideally you will be RICS qualified and an RICS Registered Valuer with extensive PQE in a general practice/infrastructure surveying role, with a business development attitude and a focus on delivering excellent customer service. Compulsory Purchase experience is desirable though not essential, with training available through our Infrastructures Academy. Rural surveying experience could be beneficial as our work covers rural portfolios (commercial and residential assets). You should have a good working knowledge of relevant legislation, and strong analytical and problem-solving skills. You should be ambitious and eager to develop your career in line with the business, actively seek continuous self-development, and be able to drive business initiatives forward while maintaining existing relationships. A strong team player with interpersonal skills, good humour, and effective communication with colleagues and clients at all levels is essential.

The role requires significant engagement with clients, landowners and agents, so strong communication skills are essential. The role is fast-paced and flexible, with travel involved; a full driving license is essential.
