Sonographer

Come and join our Ultrasound team at Royal Glamorgan Hospital (RGH) and Ysbyty Cwm Rhondda (YCR) within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.
We are looking for enthusiastic and committed Sonographers to join our friendly and developing ultrasound service in the heart of South Wales.
The successful applicant will work primarily across RGH and YCR, undertaking a varied workload including obstetric, gynaecological and general ultrasound examinations, with the opportunity for occasional cross‑site working within CTM.
This post is suitable for sonographers who enjoy working within a supportive team environment and are keen to continue developing their clinical skills and scope of practice. We actively encourage continuing professional development and support role expansion in line with departmental priorities and individual interests.
Responsibilities
* Provide a professionally competent ultrasound service to patients throughout the University Health Board in a safe clinical environment.
* Offer a caring, confidential diagnostic service to all patients, ensuring their dignity and privacy are not compromised.
* Work without direct clinical supervision, reporting to the Superintendent Radiographers within the Department.
* Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of clinical audit, health & safety policies and procedures related to ultrasound.
Qualifications
* Recognised qualification in Medical Ultrasound (PgC/PgD/MSc).
* Current registration with HCPC, NMC or equivalent professional body.
* Experience in general ultrasound, including transvaginal and obstetric imaging (essential).
* DQASS registration for combined screening desirable; training and support will be provided.
* Counselling experience and a degree or equivalent.
Experience
* Full history of sonography experience.
* Relevant history of CPD.
* Appropriate supervisory, management or teaching experience.
* Experience in vascular, small parts or MSK sonography (desirable).
Skills and Knowledge
* Evidence of participation in clinical audit.
* Evidence of health and safety policy and procedures relating to ultrasound.
* Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above (desirable).
Welsh Skills Desirable
This post is advertised as Welsh desirable. Welsh speaking and listening skills at Level 3 or above may give an advantage when short‑listing and selecting candidates, though fluency is not required.
