We are working with a welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school in Launceston to recruit a Head of English to join their leadership team from September 2025. This is a temporary-to-permanent position, offering the opportunity to make a long-term impact in a supportive and ambitious school environment.

The Role:
* Lead and manage the English Department across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable but not essential)
* Drive curriculum development and deliver outstanding teaching and learning
* Monitor progress, raise attainment, and ensure high standards across the department
* Mentor and support teaching staff within the department
* Contribute to whole-school improvement and strategy
* Teaching groups of students KS3-KS5
The Ideal Candidate:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong background in teaching English
* Proven leadership or middle leadership experience (e.g. Second in Department or equivalent)
* A passion for English literature and language and a track record of excellent classroom practice
* Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
* A commitment to student progress and high achievement

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
