Overview
Solicitor role at East Lothian Council. Applications for home or hybrid working will be considered in accordance with East Lothian Council's Home Working and Worksmart Policies.
Working Arrangements
Home or Hybrid working options can be discussed with candidates invited for interview. All home/hybrid workers must live in the UK. A satisfactory trial period applies to home-working support. Employees may be required to attend Council offices for induction and be on site in East Lothian workplaces as required. If a hybrid arrangement is in place, you will be office-based and able to work from home with permission on an ad hoc basis.

Monday – Friday, 09:00-17:00. Flexi time is applicable. To start ASAP.
Job Details
To provide comprehensive legal advice and assistance to the Council in a wide range of statutory Local Authority functions.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
* Degree in Scots Law and a Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice or equivalent.
* Admitted as a Solicitor by the Law Society of Scotland and hold a Practising Certificate as a solicitor issued by the Law Society of Scotland.
Disclosure and Additional Checks
* This role requires Level 2 Disclosure Clearance. East Lothian Council will submit a Police Act Disclosure application on behalf of the preferred candidate and receipt of the certificate is required prior to commencement.
* If you have spent more than 3 months working or living outside the UK in the last 5 years, you will be required to present a copy of an overseas criminal record check (details on GOV.UK).
