Senior Community Psychiatric Nurse - Community Rehabilitation
Job overview
The Community Rehabilitation Service provides intensive recovery-focussed rehabilitation to individuals with complex psychosis and related difficulties. The team use an holistic approach together with Social Care and 3rd sector partners in order to enable individuals with complex mental health needs to manage more effectively and independently in their community.
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Community Psychiatric Nurse to work with our established Thanet service as the team's Senior Community Psychiatric Nurse. The successful applicant will care coordinate and provide rehabilitation nursing input to a defined caseload of individuals with complex mental health problems, they will deliver the therapeutic programme and provide support and supervision to other members of the staff team. The team delivers comprehensive, individualised treatment and recovery plans which include supporting clients to maintain their living environment, and encouraging and supporting them to have meaningful roles and purpose within their local communities.
Individuals will be expected to ensure the team is able provide input between the hours of 08:00 and 20:00 according to the needs of the service, including working some evenings, weekends and public holidays.
You will need to have experience in working with individuals with complex mental health problems and be registered Mental Health Nurse with at least 2 years post registration experience.
Main duties of the job
The Senior Community Psychiatric Nurse is a key clinical leader within the multidisciplinary care team and will have continuing responsibility to assess, plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate care, communicate findings, influence and drive change and promote health and best practice, patient safety and experience.
The Psychiatric Nurse will be professionally accountable to the Executive Director of Nursing, and operationally accountable to the Service Manager
The post holder must hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car/vehicle to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).

Person specification
Training, Qualifications and Registration
Essential criteria
* Qualified and registered as an RMN with the approval to practice in the UK. Completed and signed off preceptorship.
* Registration with the NMC
* Approved Practice Educator
Desirable criteria
* Further training relevant to the role
Experience
Essential criteria
* Minimum of 2 years post registration experience
* Supervision and appraisal junior staff.
* Experience of working with complex mental health conditions in a rehabilitation setting
* Experience of individual & group work
Desirable criteria
* Experience of leading service developments
* Experience of clinical audit and research
Knowledge and Skills
Essential criteria
* To have demonstrable advanced skills in Mental Health assessment formulation, risk assessment and care planning
* Knowledge and expertise in the application of relevant theoretical models, and approaches relevant to client group
* Understanding of the impact of mental health needs and/or cognitive impairment on function and occupation of clients, family and carers.
Desirable criteria
* Training and presentation/facilitation skills

Induction

The Induction programme will provide an excellent opportunity for new staff to meet and engage with KMPT's subject specialists and include the required training.
The programme may involve some travel to the various training venues across Kent and Medway, the main ones being Canterbury, Maidstone and Dartford.
