We are supporting a well-established Portsmouth-based manufacturer specialising in the design and production of high-performance electrical and electronic components supplied to global industries including aerospace, medical, automotive and telecommunications.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to add a Test Technician to their Product Design team.
What’s the role all about?
As a Test Technician, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical, mechanical and environmental testing on electronic components and assemblies to ensure products meet internal quality standards and customer specifications.
Working closely with engineering, production and quality teams, you will play a key role in validating product performance and supporting product development projects.
Key responsibilities
Conduct electrical and mechanical testing on connector parts and assemblies
Set up and operate laboratory test equipment including oscilloscopes, power supplies, force gauges and CMMs
Perform simulation testing using Ansys
Record and report test results accurately in line with company and industry standards
Work closely with design, production and quality teams to review and communicate test outcomes
Plan and manage daily testing activities in line with project deadlines and departmental KPIs
Work to EN9100 standards and company procedures
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team
What you’ll need
To succeed as a Test Technician, you will bring:
Experience working in a production or laboratory test environment, ideally within electronics manufacturing
Familiarity with test instrumentation and measurement principles
Strong documentation and reporting skills
Understanding of engineering quality procedures and tolerancing
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and organisational skills
Experience with simulation tools such as Ansys would be advantageous but is not essential.
