RoC Consulting, part of the RSK Group, is a leading award-winning consultancy based in the heart of Manchester, providing civil and structural engineering services. RoC Consulting is looking for a graduate 2 years through to near chartered status to join our established team. The primary function of a Structural Engineer will entail producing design calculations for building structures in all common materials, under the supervision of a senior or principal engineer. We have a strong and successful track record of working collaboratively with the wider design teams on visionary masterplans, iconic office and residential buildings set in attractive public spaces. Our projects include both new build and refurbishment projects. The role will also involve survey and assessment of existing structures, communication of design details and concepts via sketches and drawings, checking designs produced by others, liaising with architects, contractors and other construction professionals and attending site as required. A Structural Engineer will be expected to undertake training as directed by the business and work towards the attainment of chartered status with the Institution of Structural Engineers or other similar organisation. Responsibilities: To produce design calculations for new and existing structures and to check design calculations produced by others To produce sketch drawings as required to communicate design concepts and construction details To review and check drawings, including RC detail drawings, to ensure that the design information is correct prior to issue To produce specifications and reports To undertake site surveys to accurately access and appraise as built details of existing structures and prepare sketches of the same To undertake construction site inspections to check the quality of workmanship and compliance of construction with the drawn details Liaising with architects, contractors and other construction professionals To attend site meetings with Contractors and professional team members To comply with the company’s Quality Assurance procedures To undertake training and initial professional development (IPD) as required Person specification: BEng or MEng in civil and/or structural engineering Aiming to become a Chartered Engineer with ICE or IStructE Structural Engineering design experience Excellent verbal and written communication skills Full UK driving licence The RSK Group are an equal opportunity company Surveyor recruitment rskfamily RSK will not accept unsolicited CVs from agencies other than RSK PSL or Secondary agencies.
