An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is looking to start or progress their finance career, to join the finance team in the NOTSSCaN clinical division at Oxford University Hospitals. To succeed in this role, you will be a self-motivated, pro-active individual with good communication skills who is looking to start or progress their professional accountancy qualification. Ideally, but not essential, you will have previous experience of working in the NHS.
You will be numerate and IT savvy, potentially having a working knowledge of finance systems, specifically general ledger, sales ledger, Excel and other Microsoft packages and have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and be able to work flexibly.
You will support the Management Accountants and Finance Business Partners to provide a comprehensive finance business partnering role to the directorates within the division and assist with building strong relationships with Budget Managers to help them understand and monitor their department budgets.
Main duties of the job
The Assistant Management Accountant will assist the Management Accountants in the production of accurate and actionable monthly finance reports through processing of transactions through the general ledger, transaction analysis and variance analysis to budget. You will also assist with ensuring monthly budget monitoring reports are robust and take accurate account of all appropriate spend within the agreed month end timetable, to assist with the planning and production of the annual budget.
Other responsibilities include the calculation and raising of invoices, making pay corrections and transfers, identifying revenue items which should be capitalised, routinely checking that invoices and other documents have the appropriate authorisation and coding in place, Inputting, maintaining, and monitoring of the division’s additional session data base, including month end accruals and payments via payroll, and updating and running routine monthly reports.
The post holder is expected to work as part of a cohesive team and when necessary, may take lead responsibility for issues outside of their immediate sphere of responsibility.
