We’re looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable tradesperson to join our team as a Bricklaying Lecturer at our well-established college in Cambridge.

The Role

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced industry professional seeking a rewarding new career in education. You’ll deliver practical and theoretical brickwork training to learners on full-time and apprenticeship programmes, helping them develop technical competence and confidence in their trade.

You don’t need to have any previous teaching experience — full training, support, and the opportunity to gain a Level 5 teaching qualification will be provided.

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver engaging, hands-on bricklaying sessions in both workshop and classroom settings.
2. Support learners to develop a strong foundation of practical skills, safety awareness, and industry knowledge.
3. Prepare, set up, and maintain materials, tools, and equipment for practical activities.
4. Monitor learner progress, provide constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records.
5. Contribute to curriculum development and ensure training meets college standards and industry requirements.
6. Promote safe working practices and an inclusive, professional learning environment.

About You

You’ll bring:

7. Substantial, up-to-date experience working as a bricklayer within the construction industry.
8. A passion for your trade and a genuine interest in helping others learn.
9. Strong communication and organisational skills.
10. A positive, patient, and supportive approach to learners of all abilities.
11. (Desirable) Any industry-related qualifications or site safety certifications.

In return, you’ll receive:

12. Full support to gain a Level 5 teaching qualification while you teach.
13. Continuous professional development opportunities.
14. The chance to join a friendly, supportive team and make a lasting impact on learners’ careers.

If you’re ready to share your industry expertise and build a new career in further education, we’d love to hear from you.

Apply today and take the first step into an exciting new chapter in your bricklaying career.

We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. You will have a safeguarding responsibility if appointed.

The successful candidate will be subject to enhanced clearance through the Disclosure and Barring Service and employment will be subject to references.

This post is not exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
