Are you a caring and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse looking for a new opportunity? Join our new purpose-built CAMHS High Intensity/PICU opening early 2026. We welcome applications from both newly qualified and experienced nurses.
About the role
The ward will be an 8-bed CAMHS unit providing innovative and high quality care to young people aged 13-18 with acute mental illness. The purpose is to offer comprehensive assessments and treatment to enable shorter hospital stays and clear care plans. As an RMN you will work within a supportive team to provide individual care in accordance with the integrated care programme approach. You will assist in the organisation and be responsible for the safety and well-being of young people.
Responsibilities
* Establish and develop effective liaison and communication with all disciplines, agencies, parents, carers and service users.
* Provide sound advice and support to service users and their carers in line with professional practice.
* Facilitate and co-facilitate a range of therapeutic and recreational groups and activities designed to support and educate clients both in and outside the unit.
* Contribute to risk assessment and safety planning as part of the care team.
* Be involved in day-to-day organisation and operation of the ward.
* Complete the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course prior to starting in the post (it is a condition of employment that all aspects are completed).
Requirements / Qualifications
* Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN).
* Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check; cost covered by the Trust. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid certificate.
* Location/availability for the selection day if invited (Wimborne, Dorset, Thursday 9 October 2025).
* Sponsorship: Applications from candidates requiring sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible.
