Here are some key responsibilities you would typically have as a SEN Teaching Assistant: • Individualized Support: Work closely with students who have Special Educational Needs, providing tailored support and adapting teaching materials to meet their unique requirements. • Classroom Assistance: Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons, ensuring that all students are included and supported in their learning activities. • Behaviour Management: Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, promoting respectful behaviour and implementing strategies to support student engagement. • Monitoring Progress: Observe and report on student progress and behaviour, providing feedback to teachers and contributing to the development of Individual Education Plans. • Personal Care: Support students with personal care needs when required, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the school day. • Collaboration with Staff: Work closely with teaching staff, SEN coordinators, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support. • Extracurricular Involvement: Contribute to the wider school community by assisting in extracurricular activities, helping to foster student engagement and personal development. • Professional Development: Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting students with additional needs. The successful candidate for SEN Teaching Assistant will have: • Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, either in a school setting or with relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification). • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents. • A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach, demonstrating your commitment to supporting students with diverse needs. • Flexibility and adaptability to work across various subjects and with different teaching styles. • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, contributing to a collaborative and supportive school environment. • Enhanced DBS registered to the update service.
