Account Manager
Location: Rotherham (National travel required)
Salary: £48,000 – £50,000 + Commission + Company Car/Allowance
We are recruiting for an experienced Account Manager to take ownership of a specialist hire division within a well-established engineering organisation. This is a commercially focused role combining account management, business development and operational oversight.
You will be responsible for managing and growing key customer relationships across the utilities and industrial sectors, while driving profitability and expansion of the hire business nationwide.
The Role
Reporting to the Sales Director, you will have full responsibility for the performance and growth of the hire portfolio. This includes managing key accounts, securing new business, improving utilisation rates and ensuring commercially viable solutions are delivered to customers.
You will work closely with regional field teams, sales managers and operational staff to ensure hire equipment is delivered, maintained and returned efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and grow existing key accounts
* Identify and secure new business opportunities
* Take ownership of the hire business P&L
* Promote hire solutions to new and existing customers
* Monitor fleet utilisation and profitability
* Set competitive rental pricing aligned to market conditions
* Coordinate equipment availability, maintenance and turnaround
* Support framework agreements and project-based hire requirements
* Provide market intelligence and strategic feedback
* Work closely with sales and marketing teams to drive growth
About You
* Proven experience in account management and new business development
* Background within plant hire, engineering or manufacturing
* Strong commercial and financial awareness
* Ability to build long-term customer relationships
* Confident communicator with strong negotiation skills
* Practical understanding of engineering solutions
* IT literate and comfortable using ERP systems
* Full UK driving licence (max 6 points)
An engineering qualification or relevant technical experience would be advantageous.
