Purpose of job
Birketts is recruiting an ambitious, driven, and forward-thinking environmental lawyer to join our growing Planning and Environmental Team on a permanent basis. The team operates across four offices, with flexibility to work remotely from Cambridge or Ipswich, and occasional travel to other offices. The role involves providing high-level legal support within a diverse caseload of planning and environmental work, primarily delivering quality environmental law advice.
Experience in planning law is beneficial but not essential; a willingness to learn about planning law and the planning system relevant to environmental work is required.
Accountabilities
* Support the Planning and Environmental team in achieving growth and service excellence
* Collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervising junior staff and seeking guidance from seniors
* Produce high-standard correspondence and documents using software like Microsoft Word and Excel
* Develop expertise in legal software such as Hi Q, Expert Time Recording, and Compare Docs
* Prepare advice and documentation meeting client deadlines
* Update clients on case progress as needed
* Proofread all work for accuracy
* Engage in business development activities for the team and firm
Candidate Profile

* A qualified lawyer with environmental law experience (PQE)
* Solicitor, barrister, or legal executive qualification
* Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite

* Self-motivated with attention to detail and organizational skills
