Our client is a multi‑million turnover manufacturing business servicing a broad range of clients with their range of building solutions products. Their product range is used in a wide range of applications and services both internal and external construction needs.
About the Role
There is a requirement to appoint a new Business Unit Director to the business, a dynamic individual who will be forward thinking, able to take the division into its next growth phase, increasing the turnover both through organic growth and acquisition. The incoming post holder will have experience of driving P&L either as an existing Commercial/Sales Director or MD. They will be adept at building teams, able to take them confidently and cohesively on the onward growth trajectory.
Responsibilities
* Developing and executing the divisional strategy in alignment with the Group’s long‑term vision and objectives.
* Identifying and evaluating new market opportunities, partnerships, and acquisitions to drive growth.
* Representing the division at Group level meetings both in the UK and internationally, contributing to overall corporate strategy.
* Collaborating and communicating closely with SMT colleagues to ensure alignment of divisional goals with broader organisational priorities, fostering cross‑functional synergy and shared accountability.
* Championing agility, sustainability, digital transformation, and innovation across the division.
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
* Proven track record in a senior commercial leadership role within the building materials, construction, or manufacturing sectors.
* Previous strategic commercial management experience within a manufacturing business is essential.
* Strong commercial acumen with experience managing the P&L for a large business unit or division.
* Experience in managing a broad range of stakeholder environments, including customers, suppliers, shareholders and other internal and external stakeholders.
* Leader of people who can effectively flex between leading, coaching and managing, as required.
* Able to communicate fluently and concisely across a range of different cultures and mediums.
* Proven hands on and task‑oriented experience, comfortable at operating in a ‘sleeves rolled up’ manner.
* Ability to influence and challenge at all levels of the organisation.
