About the Role:
We are searching for an organised and detail-oriented Materials Controller to join our team at a leading railway infrastructure company. In this crucial role, you will manage and expedite materials to ensure alignment with production schedules and contractual requirements. Your responsibilities will include warranty management, inventory control, materials planning, and maintaining strong customer relationships to support operational and sales needs. You will also play a key role in process compliance, continuous improvement, and health, safety, and environmental standards within your area of responsibility.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage warranty returns and coordinate with fleets for claim resolution.
Oversee inventory management, prioritising replenishment and repairable parts to maintain optimal stock levels.
Liaise proactively across departments and with suppliers to ensure supply priorities are understood and met.
Develop and maintain operational processes related to supply chain activities and material flow.
Monitor compliance with internal control procedures and implement corrective actions as needed.
Coordinate materials planning and forecasting between fleets and inventory specialists.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external customers to support current and future business opportunities.
Optimise material usage to support fleet operations.
Implement and promote health, safety, and environmental policies, ensuring team engagement and compliance.
Participate actively in continuous improvement programmes and quality initiatives.
Skills Required:
Proven experience in stock control and inventory management.
Thorough knowledge of materials and stores management procedures, including warranty processes.
Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
Effective communication and liaison abilities at all organisational levels.
Ability to monitor and enforce compliance with internal procedures.
Experience in materials planning and forecasting.
Customer relationship management skills.
Proactive problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset.
Understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to materials management.
Good IT literacy and proficiency with relevant software systems.

Inventory management systems

Certifications & Standards:
Knowledge and compliance with HSQE policies (Health, Safety, Quality, Environment)
