Job overview
Due to maternity leave of the current postholder, this vacancy has arisen to support the development and expansion of diagnostic neuroradiology services within the Trust.
Based in the Radiology Department covering Royal Preston Hospital (RPH), Chorley District General Hospital (CDH) and the new CDC at Healthport.
Main duties of the job
* Provide a comprehensive diagnostic neuroradiology service and support 9 existing neuroradiologists (4 of whom perform neuro‑intervention) and 2 head & neck radiologists.
* Active role in planning, developing and delivering the neuro radiology service for the Directorate and associated Network.
* Support diagnostic neuroradiology colleagues in both inpatient and outpatient MRI/CT reporting and collaborate closely with wider neurosciences and radiology departments.
* Provide support for the local and network neuroradiology MDTs and participate in a neuroradiology on‑call rota with a 1:9 frequency.
* Sub‑specialist interest or experience in head & neck radiology, advanced neuro‑imaging, PET‑CT and neck ultrasound/FNA/core biopsies desirable.
Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration and License to Practice.
* MBBS or equivalent.
* FRCR or equivalent.
* CCST in Radiology or equivalent registration.
* CCT held or due by time of interview.
* Fellowship in diagnostic neuroradiology from an accredited training scheme.
* Experience of advanced neuro‑imaging techniques.
Experience & Skills
* Wide experience in diagnostic neuroradiology and MDT work in a tertiary neurosciences centre.
* Experience presenting in neuroradiology MDTs.
* Recent experience of on‑call working.
* Examples of commitment to working as part of a clinical team.
* Ability to perform neck ultrasound and guided interventions.
* Teaching skills for both medical and paramedical disciplines.
Management
* Evidence of clinical leadership.
* Evidence of commitment to audit and improving clinical practice/service development.
* Ability to supervise and direct junior medical staff and other colleagues.
* Management course or certification.
Research and Development
* Evidence of interest in personal development e.g. through research and/or publications.
* Evidence of peer‑reviewed publications.
Health
* Meets professional health requirements in line with GMC Standards/Good Medical Practice.
Personal
* Proven effective communication skills (with examples).
* Good organisational skills (with examples).
* Works well within a multidisciplinary environment.
* Resident within 30 minutes travel time to Chorley/Preston.
* Car owner or driver.
